Richard married my mom after I was grown and in the service. He knowingly walked into a messed up family situation. He did the very best he could. He loved my Mom. And cared for her throughout her life, unil she departed him in death. He was a very good and loving man. He tried raising her 2 youngest children. In a lot of ways I was envious of them having a man that cared about them and was involved with them. He took them hunting and fishing and boating. He showed them what loving your wife was. I did not grow up with any of that. The end of his life, after Mom passed away, was not so good. The neighborhood went down, people that knew my mom were still around but there was not as much talking, laughing or activity. In some ways it seems his reason for living was gone. I did not know him as well as others but I know based on my mom's journal that she felt loved by him, for the first time in her life, she felt loved. That is enough for me. Rest in Peace Snoopy. Your time here is done, relax with mom and enjoy.
