Josephine Troth Friedman, 89, Audubon
October 23rd, 1928 – February 26th, 2018
Widow of Jere Howard Friedman, is survived by her sons Ted (Barbara), Steve (Karen) and five grandchildren, Will, Christopher, Sam, Pemmy, and Henry. Also survived by her sister Eleanor Troth Lewis (Tom), their four children, twelve grandchildren, and great-grandchild.
Joy was born in Wayne, PA. She graduated from Radnor High School and the Philadelphia College of Art, where she met Jere. She was an accomplished artist, illustrator, and author of children's books, several of which were published in multiple languages. Joy also became a portrait painter and continued to study at The Philadelphia Museum of Fine Art into her early 80s.
Joy loved vacationing on the coast of Maine and sailing on the Chesapeake Bay. She also enjoyed hiking, camping, and bicycling and became an active member of a long distance bicycle touring club.
A memorial service for family and close friends will be held at The Main Line Unitarian Church on Thursday, March 8th at 11:00 AM.
