Margaret Hughes, 84, Phoenixville
Margaret Hughes, 84, affectionally known as "Aunt Peg", died Wednesday June 21, 2017 in Seasons Hospice.
She was born in 1933 in Pottstown to the late Merrill and the late Ida (Richards) Flemming. Peg spent most of her life in the Spring City area. She graduated in 1951 from the Royersford High School and went to Kutztown University for a degree in education. She pursued her Master's Degree from Millersville University where she worked as an assistant acting principal of Pennhurst State School and was a special education teacher for Spring Ford School District retiring in 1986. Peg stayed active driving school bus for five years and was involved in many community activities. She was a lifetime member of AIBC- American Italian Bocce Club; member of the Spring City American Legion and Royersford VFW. She is most renowned for her sand tarts, jellies, bread, butter pickles and knitting mittens.
Aunt Peg will be missed by her daughter: Robin Beth Hughes) Sexto, brother: John Flemming of Florida; eight nieces and nephews, fifteen great nieces and nephews and four great-great nieces and nephews.
Preceeding her in death are her parents: Merrill and Ida Flemming; sister Rhea Collopy and brother, Merrill Flemming.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, July 15, 2017 in Royersford Baptist Church, 452 S Lewis Rd, Royersford. With the Rev. Karen Selwig officiating.
Visitation will be from 10-11 AM prior to the service at the church. Burial will be immediately following at the Fernwood/ Royersford Cemetery.
