To Keith, Jim and all of Harry's family - what a legacy your father leaves! From a family of bowlers we will never know a better one, nor a better person. We are proud to have called him friend. We have so many memories of Harry. I hope it brings you some comfort to know how he touched so many lives. We will miss him dearly.

I consider myself blessed to have gotten to know Harry, to hear many of his personal experiences. I sat many times listening to him tell me of the many times he was in battle and the many men's lives he saved. And I could see it in his eyes and hear it in his voice of the many he couldn't.
I met Harry a few years ago at the Hatfield Legion. We had just done the escort of the Moving Wall and were busy helping set it up.
He came over after we were finished and started walking along the sections of wall, reading the names and brushing his fingers over the names. He said he was paying respects to his friends that were etched on The Wall. We told him about our Post and how we were like a big family. Always laughing and caring for one another. He was interested and said he'd stop by and check us out.
So glad he did.
Two years ago I invited Harry to my place of work, we were looking for a speaker
for our Back in History Day. He was quite hesitant, he told me he never talked about those days and didn't know if he really wanted to.
To my surprise, Harry showed up that day, two hours early! He walked around talking with folks., then it was his time to speak.
It all started at that podium. He told everyone about how his military life started, the when, wheres and hows. And how after he was in, he wanted to know how he could get out. He was scared to death. He was just a kid, given a gun and told to kill the bad guy.
A few months later, I was telling him that I was going to be participating in a journey that would escort live wreaths from Maine to Arlington in December, called Wreaths Across America. He told me about his buddies from the 8th Cav and where they
were buried in Arlington. Neil Wagner and I made it a point to find them. It was the smallest plot with only a few headstones but we found it. I read his poem that he wrote to them with tears streaming down my face. I felt so honored to be able to do that for him.
I loved Harry like he was my grandfather. I felt so honored, blessed and humbled to call him my friend. My heart is hurting, and the
tears are flowing. I must find the strength to say goodbye to my friend, my Hero Harry Heater. Rest in Peace Harry. You will be so sadly missed but Never Forgotten.

SFC (Retired) Harry J. Heater with the West Point Cadets ice hockey team after they defeated the Naval Academy's squad in Nov. 2015 in Reading, PA. He was the honored Veteran that was recognized by the Reading Royals Hockey organization during the hockey game that followed the academy's contest. A class act it was and a wonderful tribute to a proud American Combat Veteran. WW-II, Korean War and 2 Tours in Vietnam (a Combat Medic's Grand World Tour). An amazing night that will be long remembered by his family and friends. Thank you Carol and a big Thank You Reading Royals organization.

I have fond memories of Harry during his days at the Spring City Post Office. He was always cheerful and made everyone feel welcome. He gave the kids a "tattoo" with his stamper. One of his favorite things to say was, "You made my whole day feel better." They broke the mold when they made Harry. Rest in peace, dear friend.
