Please share a memory of Wanda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Wanda Marie "Magoo" Yakuboski Pennypacker , age 97, passed peacefully on April 3, 2015, Good Friday, at Seasons Hospice in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. She was born on March 13, 1918 at Woman's Hospital in Philadelphia and raised in Royersford, Pennsylvania. Magoo, as she was affectionately known by family and friends, lived a full and interesting life. She enjoyed dancing at Sunnybrook Ballroom with friends as a young woman, playing bridge competitively and was an active volunteer in the Royersford Methodist Church for as long as she was able. In 1937, Sunnybrook Ballroom was featured in an article by Life Magazine, where our beloved Magoo was invited to be photographed with her friends because of her beauty and was the focus of much of the article. She received letters from around the world as a result of the story and was proud of this accomplishment. She spent many summers in Chafie Locks, Canada and lived abroad for a year in Germany with her husband and daughter in 1960. Magoo was a homemaker, wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Verda Marie Schaefer Wells; her grandsons and their wives, Harry "Rusty" Andrew Wells, Suzanne Wells, Troy Andrew Wells and Donna Wells; her great-grandchildren, Harrison, Hayden, Carly, Henry and Trevor Wells; her sister, Christine Yakuboski Harbison, and two nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Kasemer Yakuboski and Verda Miller Yakuboski, and her husband Carl Pennypacker. She will be remembered for her beauty, strength and quick wit.
