Sara J. Nyce, age 83, of Royersford, PA, passed away peacefully at her home on October 24, 2024. Born on May 27, 1941, in Luzerne, PA, to the late Bernard and Alice Sengia, Sara was a loving wife, sister, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Sara graduated from Owen J. Roberts High School in 1959, where she excelled as a National Honor Society member and participated in field hockey, basketball, and softball. Her academic and athletic achievements reflected her determination and drive, qualities she carried throughout her life.
A devoted member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Sara was an integral part of her parish community. She was actively involved in fundraising efforts to help build the church in 1956 and sang in the choir during its first Christmas celebration—a memory she cherished. In the early 1960’s Sara sold ads at the Daily Republican which later became the Evening Phoenix. Sara also worked in the Sacred Heart School cafeteria for nine years before serving for 18 years as a court clerk for the district court, where her dedication and professionalism left a lasting impact.
Sara is survived by her beloved husband, Herbert Nyce; her sisters, Victoria Wilgeroth (Ray) and Joanne Petko; her brother, John Sengia (Elaine); and many cherished nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, her daughter, Charmagne Nyce, and her sisters, Bernadine Schoening and Janice Sipple.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Sara’s life with a funeral mass on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 11:45 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 838 Walnut Street, Royersford, PA 19468. Prior to the mass, a visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at R. Strunk Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460.
