Obituary of William S. Demski, Jr.

Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

William S. Demski, Jr., 84, Spring City (East Vincent Township)

William Demski, Jr., 84,  husband to Maryann (Phillips) Demski passed away Thursday September 26, 2024 in the Shannondell Rehab.

Bill was born February 19, 1940, in Philadelphia to William and Eleanor (Tucholski) Demski. The only boy of four children, he spent most of his youth in Philadelphia. He graduated from West Catholic High School, class of 1958.

Bill was a cop. He was a cop’s cop! Affectionately known as “Chief”, Bill was a legend in our community for his over 20 years of service as the East Vincent Township Police Chief, retiring in 2011.  He understood the meaning of service and loved the community – he knew everyone, and everyone knew him. Bill began his career in law enforcement as a Philadelphia Police Officer in 1962. Some of his most cherished assignments were his time spent as a member of the plain-clothes Anti-Crime Team (ACT I) and as Captain of the Major Crimes unit. After 29 proud years, Bill retired from the Philadelphia Police Force at the rank of Captain and began his service in East Vincent.  Bill attended the FBI Academy and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police – Philadelphia Chapter and Chester County Police Chiefs Association. As much as he gave back to the community, he was always available for his family. He always put them as his priority.

Bill leaves behind his wife of 30 years, Maryann Demski, his children:  William (Michele), Michael, Stephen (Debbie), and Kristen Nesensohn (Terrence); Step children:  Diane Mariotti (Joseph) and Karen Boylan (Meghan Bradley); son-in-law: Jack Rodenbaugh; sister: Lorraine Alessandrine; Eight grandchildren: Laura Keller (Zachary), Zachary Rodenbaugh; Matthew, Juliana, and Luke Demski; Emily Nesensohn; Joseph (Courtney) and Nicholas (Alexa) Mariotti; two great grandchildren: Sophie and Theo; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his daughter:  Linda Rodenbaugh and sisters: Patricia Demski (in infancy) and Maryanne Borsuk.

A Funeral Mass will be held 11 AM Friday, October 4 in St. Joseph RC Church, 3640 Schuylkill Road, Spring City with Rev. Charles O'Hara officiating.  Burial will be immediately following the Mass at Calvary Cemetery 235 Matsonford Rd, Conshohocken, PA 19428
