Obituary of Shirley Yost

Shirley Yost, 79, Pottstown

Shirley (Miller) Yost, 79,  wife of Joseph Moore and the late Daniel Yost, passed away at home Thursday, August 1, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was born April 1, 1945 in Phoenixville to the late Paul Miller and the late Edna (Bower) Miller.  The Miller family lived in the Parkerford area where they raised their son Glenn and daughter Shirley.   She was a 1963 Owen J. Roberts High School graduate and greeted the community with her beautiful smile as a teller and then retiring as a Loan Officer at the Tri County Credit Union.  She welcomed everyone as a friend. 

Shirley was a very active member of the Parkerford Baptist Church and committed Christian.  She participated in worship as the Pianist and was the chairman of the Flower Committee.  Being outside brought her joy.  She was an avid gardener.  Shirley and the family enjoyed camping and spending time at their cabin.  It was not uncommon to see her with a book in her hand as she enjoyed reading. 

Shirley leaves behind her husband Joseph Moore, daughter Laurie Smith (Kenneth) and son Donald Hine (Laurie).  Eight Step children:  Cheryl Yeager, Ronald Moore (Barbara), Richard Moore (Sue), Cynthia Ecker, Daughter in law Pavlina, Lance Parson (Joyce), Robin Schlichter (Robert) and Ty Parson (Loretta), 18 Grandchildren, and 20 Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband:  Daniel and Step Son – J. Robert Moore.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Parkerford Baptist Church Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 11 AM.  Visitation will be from 9:30 – 11:00 with the Rev. Robert Davalt presiding. 

Burial will be immediately following in the Parker Ford Baptist Church Cemetery
