Obituary of E. Gwendolyn McCullough

E Gwendolyn Mccullough 88, widow of the late Arthur Mccullough, passed away Monday, July 22, 2024 in the Park House at Providence Point.

 

She was one of five children, Gwen was born, June 18, 1936 to the late Alexander Jefferies and Florence  (Ingram) proceeded in death by sister, Lois, brother Bill, sister Ruth and brother Bob.  A child of the depression era and victory gardens, hearing stories of her growing up in Spring City and the good ole days attending Spring City high school playing field hockey, learning clerical and working at the Twinboro diner. She took a clerical job at Roberts meatpacking Company and met her husband Arthur and were married for 57 years. They raised their family on Pikeland Avenue of three sons who they were very proud. Gwen worked as a seamstress at the Spring City Knitting Mill  until retirement age where her and Arthur moved to Gettysburg in retirement to be centrally located between their sons families to watch the  7 grandchildren  grow and for them begin to raising 13 great grandchildren.

 

Gwen was an avid baker and pie maker spending summer vacations with family in the mountains and the shore watching these children grow.

 

Returning home in 2013 to live in Royersford, her and Arthur became regular monthly volunteers at the Kimberton fire company  faithfully making donuts year-round. Arthur passed in 2017 and ironically, Gwen passed away on this year‘s opening of the Kimberton fair, which is known for the fairs donuts contribution.

 

Gwen leaves behind her sons : Arthur Brent(wife, Lisa),  Fredericksburg, Va, Timothy Scott(wife, Bonnie), Gettysburg,Pa, and Bradley Dean(wife, Susan), East Coventry PA. Seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. A private family service and private internment of ashes will take place at the Oak Grove cemetery, Spring City in November.
