Francis J Grimm, 100, Spring City
Francis Grimm, 100, widow of the late Hannah Marie Grimm passed away Wednesday June 26, 2024 in the Landsdale Hospital.
Francis was one of six children. He was born September 1, 1923 in Pottstown to the late Vincent and the late Katherine (Besherwor) Grimm. A graduate of Pottstown High School, Francis fought for our country in the Army. In the Army, his desire was to fly airplanes, and he was an aviation cadette. He unfortunately didn’t get to fulfill his dream, but he risked his life on the battlefield working on bombsites.
A patriot and a dedicated employee, Francis helped create and join the union at Firestone Tire Manufacturing where he enjoyed a long career as a Machinist. He and Marie had three children and Francis devoted time to watching his family grow up. He was involved in the Boy Scouting program.
In his later years, Francis lived at the Vincent Heights Community in Spring City, where he gained many friends and thoroughly enjoyed his BINGO games where he LOVED to win. He was involved in his local parish, St. Joseph Church and was a member of their men’s group. Francis was a life member of the Pottstown American Legion.
Francis loved to travel the world. He travelled throughout Europe and Egypt. There wasn’t a place he didn’t want to miss.
There was always a smile on his face, and he brought much joy to those he was in touch with. He was a devoted family man and he will be missed by his three children: Heidi Koche (Robert), Theodore Grimm (Vicki) and Francis Grimm (MaryBeth); granddaughter: Jacquelyn (Eric) Binns and great grandchildren: Aiden and Sophia.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and his six siblings: Vincent, Peter, Larry, Anna, Caroline and Raymond Grimm.
