Obituary of Mario R. DiNardo, Jr.
Mario R. DiNardo, Jr., 66, Spring City
Mario R. DiNardo, Jr., 66, beloved husband to Cheryl A. (Strunk) DiNardo, father and “Pop-Pop” passed away Wednesday June 5, 2024 after a heroic battle with cancer.
One of four children, Mario was born October 15, 1957 in Philadelphia to the late Mario DiNardo, Sr. and the late Ida (DiNardo) Guldin. He spent his early childhood in Northeast Philadelphia before moving with his family to Oaks, PA for his teenage years. Mario attended Spring-Ford High School and graduated with the class of 1976. An all-around athlete, Mario was an outstanding basketball player and was awarded the All-Chesmont for foul shots. He also exceled in track and field, where he participated and placed at Penn Relays for Discus and Long Jump. In 1980, he married his high school sweetheart, Cheryl and they built not only an amazing family, but a successful woodworking business. A creative mind, and talented with his hands, Mario was ready to launch into his own business in 1984. With Cheryl by his side, he created Mario DiNardo Jr. Custom Woodworking, Inc. Mario had a “Golden Heart” and thrived on giving back to others. He had many accolades, with two favorites being Pack Master of Boy Scout Troop 100 out of Zion Lutheran and was part of the founding Men’s Group of St. Joseph’s Church. It brought him great joy in helping others.
He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his wife and family, sitting back and absorbing the chaos of a loud full house. His home workshop was not only one of his favorite places to be, but it was also where he spent time teaching, telling stories, and being with his beloved grandkids. His presence, his words of wisdom, and his quick-witted jokes will all be missed greatly.
Mario leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Cheryl and children Mario III (wife Amy) and Natalie; his grandchildren Mario IV, Nevin, Piper, Amelia, and Raegan; siblings Mona Knauer (husband Lloyd), Tony DiNardo (wife, Liz), and Tina Mohrey (husband Mike); along with extended family and a number of nieces and nephews whom he adored.
Friends and family are invited to visit at the R. Strunk Funeral Home 400 Main Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460 on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Visitation will also be held prior to Mass from 10:00 AM to 11:15 AM Thursday, June 13 at St. Joseph RC Church.
