Mary Frances Schenck Ellis

Mary Ellis, 101, beloved wife of the late John A. Ellis, passed away Wednesday June 5, 2024. Born in Philadelphia on March 23, 1923, to Daisy Navance Reynolds Schenck and George Charles Frederick Schenck. Mary graduated from Phoenixville High School. She was primarily a bookkeeper during her working career, but also worked as a nurse’s aide during WWII.

Mary was an Episcopalian until marrying in 1942 then she joined her husband’s church – Trinity Reformed Church which eventually became the United Church of Christ. She taught the 3-year-old Sunday School class at that church for many years. After it closed, she became a member of the Brethren Church.

Mary enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, sewing, knitting, reading, crossword puzzles and her friends and family. She and her husband were very welcoming to all who visited their home.

She is survived by her three daughters: Prudence (Harold) Glenmore, PA; Pamela (John) Royersford, PA; Patricia (Jeffery) Pennsburg, PA. Mary also leaves behind her four grandchildren, three step grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

A Memorial service will be held Monday, June 10, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Providence Brethren Church, 1202 S. Township Line Road, Royersford, PA 19468.  Burial is private.
