In Loving Memory of Edith T. Northacker
Edith T. Northacker, daughter of Raymond and E. Naomi (Crouthamel) Texter, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2023 at 95 years old. Edith was born on November 12, 1927 at River Crest in Mont Clare, PA, where her father managed the farm. She was the valedictorian of her eighth-grade class, and salutatorian of the Collegeville ‒ Trappe High School class of 1945.
Edith lived most of her adult life in Parker Ford, where she worked as a wholesale florist at Prizer’s Greenhouses six days a week. She always smelled like a bouquet when she came home from work. She loved flowers, and spent many hours cultivating flower beds in her yard and conscientiously keeping her bird feeders filled. Edith was a wonderful cook and baker, enjoyed reading, and adored her cats. She loved to drive, and looked forward to a road trip every summer. She drove as far north as Prince Edward Island, and west to Wisconsin.
She was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church, and never missed a Sunday until health no longer permitted it. In retirement, she became an avid sewer and made thousands of blankets for Project Linus to bring comfort to seriously ill children in the hospital.
Edith is survived by two daughters, Kathy Gresko and her husband Paul of West Vincent, and Robin Rude and her husband John of North Coventry, three grandchildren: Scott Gresko (Jessica), Van Rude (Erin), and Natalie Rude, five great-grandchildren: Ryan, Colin, Clara, Wesley, and Owen, and a sister-in-law, Betty Texter. She was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Texter.
A memorial service will be held at Bethel United Methodist Church, 952 Bethel Church Road Spring City, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 30.
Arrangements are being handled by the Shalkop, Grace & Strunk Funeral Home.
