Obituary of Edward Charles Garvin
Edward Garvin, 89, passed away Saturday August 19, 2023, in the Southeastern Veterans Center.
Edward was born August 5, 1934, an only child, in Philadelphia to the late Moscow Garvin and the late Jane Carty Garvin. He spent his entire life in the Philadelphia area. A graduate of Northeast Catholic high school, Ed went into the Navy where he was an engineer on the USS Rasher a submarine during the Korean War. Later, in life, he proudly wore a t shirt "USS RASHER SSR - 269". Ed retired from the Philadelphia Fire Department where he was a professional Fireman for 35 years. He never had a bad word to say about anyone. After retirement, Ed spent his days in Cape May County, NJ. He enjoyed his family time and community in the Cape May County area.
He is survived by three daughters: Joanne Marie Garvin of Philadelphia, PA, Michele Olsen (husband, Lars) of Paradise, PA and Maureen Dunn (husband, William) of Villas, NJ. and one son: Joseph Garvin (wife, Tina) of Cape May, NJ. He is survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Edward was preceded in death by his son, Edward C. Garvin Jr.
