Obituary of Amelia Yeoman

AMELIA (DIGUISEPPE) YEOMAN

MARCH 19, 1937 TO JUNE 10, 2023

Amelia Yeoman peacefully entered the arms of Jesus on June 10, 2023, while in hospice care. She was 86. Amelia is the last of eleven children of Deodore and Amelia DiGuiseppe to enter into rest. They are having a family reunion in heaven. She was the baby of the family. She grew up in the DiGuiseppe farmhouse which still stands in Royersford not far from the American-Italian Bocce Club.

Amelia was born March 19, 1937, to Deodore and Amelia (DeLeonardo) DiGuiseppe. She is part of the rich history of the DiGuiseppe family in the Royersford area which began when five Italian brothers immigrated to the US about the turn of the 20th century. Amelia loved the annual DiGuiseppe family reunion which began in 1954 and continues to this day on the second Sunday in August. She was also part of the “Fifth Avenue Gang” and maintained lifelong friendships. Amelia has a multitude of family and friends who love her dearly and will miss her.

Amelia, also known as Millie, thoroughly enjoyed dancing and used to win jitterbug dance contests. She was fond of taking trips to the shore, going on cruises, and visiting casinos with her sisters and nieces. She had fun walking the boardwalks and shops and eating seafood. She loved to dress up and collected jewelry over the years—mostly costume jewelry—and had a story for each piece. She also collected milk glass and Avon decanters. She loved her huge Italian family and fostered a love for family in her children. She was a devoted Christian who prayed faithfully and enjoyed church life in several congregations over the years including Sacred Heart Catholic Church Royersford, Our Lady of Lourdes New Holland, New Life Assembly of God Lancaster, Grace Assembly of God Spring City, and Royersford Baptist.

She graduated from Spring Ford High School in 1956—the first graduating class when Spring City and Royersford high schools combined. After high school she worked at Philco Ford and became a manager. Some of her department’s transistors were on the rocket that went to the moon!

She met Joseph (Joe) Leonard Monville on a blind date. They were married on May 20, 1961. In 1966, they moved to Leola in Lancaster County, PA and lived there for the rest of their marriage. They had three children: Vicky, Valorie, and Danny. The family enjoyed camping as well as visiting family in the Graterford and Royersford areas. While raising her family, Amelia worked a variety of part time jobs—Avon, Burger Chef, Weaver’s Chicken factory, Leola Family Restaurant, and Ship n’ Shore clothing store. Later in life, after a divorce, she enjoyed a long career at Donecker’s Fashion Store in Ephrata. When she retired, she moved to Spring City, close to her extended family. She reconnected with Robert (Bob) Yeoman at a gathering of high school friends. They married in April 2008. They shared similar backgrounds and mutual friends. They enjoyed some travel together. Bob brought Amelia much joy in life.

Amelia battled Alzheimer’s Disease for over ten years. She is survived by her husband, and her three children, Victoria (Stan) Dobbs, Valorie (Todd) Hinkle, and Daniel (Marie) Monville, her thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren (with two more on the way!) as well as Bob’s children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
