Obituary of Maurice E Guevin

Please share a memory of Maurice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Maurice E. Guevin

Maurice E. Guevin, age 86, beloved husband of Judith (Holz) Guevin of Phoenixville, PA went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at his home surrounded by family. Maurice was born in Madison, Maine to the late Maurice and the late Dorothy (LeClair) Guevin. Maurice resided most of his life in Ringwood, NJ. He attended William Patterson College and the former Newark State College (Kean University), where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Arts.

After graduation, Maurice taught Industrial Arts in East Orange, NJ.  In 1970 he started Maurice Guevin and Sons, a home improvement contracting business, which he operated for over 50 years. He also served as the NJ Area Director of the Christian Broadcasting Network. He was a member of Bethany Church in Wyckoff, NJ and recently attended Gospel Center Church in Phoenixville, PA. Since 2007, he was an active volunteer of the RV Volunteers ministry where he and Judy worked months at a time on construction projects for churches, children’s homes, Christian camps, and Teen Challenge Centers throughout the United States. They volunteered for many years on the campus of the University of Valley Forge. Maurice loved giving a helping hand to family and friends with home improvement projects.

Maurice will be remembered by his friends and family for his faith in Jesus.  He loved to share with others what he was reading in Scripture and the things the Lord was putting on his heart.  He could often be heard singing a worship song or calling a friend to encourage and pray for them.  He had many close friends, both young and old, including fellow contractors, neighbors, students, RVers, and entire families especially because he loved having children around.  These friends became part of his spiritual family and were dear to him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Eric & wife Valerie, Todd & wife Kimberlee, and Scott; five grandchildren, Joshua, Jonathan, Daniel, Elizabeth, and Kathryn; a great grandson, Liam; and sisters, Patricia Hammon and Louise McClamma.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in his memory to the University of Valley Forge at 1401 Charlestown Road, Phoenixville, PA 19460 or www.valleyforge.edu/givingtuesday
