Aunt Audrey was a class act and an excellent representative of her generation, the generation that went through the Great Depression, World War II, Korea, the Cold War, the Space race, Vietnam, etc……….
One of my favorite memories was when Robin and I went down to visit her and Uncle George. We brought down the obligatory bagels and cold cuts and sat down at the kitchen table to catch up. I mentioned that I was currently collecting songs from the big band and post war era. One song that caught my attention was a calypso song in which the singer was singing how she hit her husband with a frying pan. Both she and Uncle George broke out in a big smile and then proceeded to sing the choruses and at least 2 versus. We sometimes forget that our parents were young.
She was a great mother, outstanding Aunt and will be heart fully missed. She now joins those who preceded her and is in a place where there is no pain, no suffering and no tears.
