I was one of the lucky ones to have had Mrs. Bateman as my fifth grade teacher at Spring City Elementary School. She was my first favorite teacher. Her positive energy and encouragement made going to school enjoyable. She was such a great person, who touched the lives of so many. My deepest sympathy to her family, she was a wonderful lady.

So what do you say about your sister? Pat was the oldest of three, she was the little mom growing up being the older sister. Six years separate three kids, each 3 years older than the next. We weaved in and out of each other’s life moments. Bob and I were there to walk her down the isle. We were there to provide support for life decisions. From Abington our home for all of our adolescent growth to Shippensburg State for her teaching degree, to Mount Joy her first house in Norristown and three children her loves of life, to Spring City and her continued teaching career, family raising and the majority of her adult life. And then came Adaline born in Africa... well a trip to see that wonderful thing was in order for sure. Mom and Pat shared many experiences throughout the years. I think in many ways she enjoyed her children more than anything else... a trait shared by our mother. And grandchildren always get a special place. We enjoyed a short visit from Pat in February of 2020 to see CA offerings, but much of her time was spent in a CA hospital. This was Pat’s life for the past five or so years ... we kidded she got the Dad genes, you know the ones that ended with two open heart surgeries, liver replacement, diabetes and a failing kidneys. At the end, the energizer bunny just ran out of juice. So as we celebrate her life we remember all the moments... the supportive ones, the happy ones, the trying ones and we raise a prayer that she has found happiness, enjoyed the time with all of us as we with her..... here is to you Sis!

It was Donegal's privilege to have had "Patsy" teach for us for several years right out of college. (I was principal of the building she served.) It was also our family's privilege to get to know her socially--to the extent that our sons (especially our older son) refer to her as "Aunt Patsy." Jason, our older son, asked specifically that she be invited to his 2009 wedding, and she attended (with her bad knee and all.) (The photo is from 1982.) Jim and Janet Lawrence

“A good teacher is like a candle- it consumes itself to light the way for others.” I, like many had Mrs. Bateman as a fifth grade teacher at Spring City Elementary. She was the driving force behind me deciding to become a teacher myself and I was so happy to be able to tell her that and also have the honor of being her substitute from time to time. She will be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers go out to Curt, Andrew, Lindsay, and the rest of the family. She loved each and every one of you so much and I can still remember her talking about all three of you.
