Obituary of Barbara Jean Czop

Barbara Czop, 71, Collegeville

Barbara Czop, 71, wife of Richard W. Czop, passed away Saturday April 17, 2021.

She was born June 26, 1949 in Sterling, Illinois, to the late Harry and Jean (Reimer) Smith.   After graduation from high school, she attended York College, in York, PA. 

Barbara was a founding member of Valley Soccer Association which later became West-Mont United Soccer in Limerick.  She was past president of The Episcopal Nursery School at the Church of the Epiphany in Royersford, PA for many years.  In addition, she is past vice-chair of the Montgomery County Republican Committee and an Upper Providence Township Committee Person.  She sang for the Velvet Underground for a short time in the 60’s.  She was a voracious reader, and would sometimes read a book a day, and loved history.  Barbara was an accomplished musician, playing piano, oboe, and flute.  She was a cousin to President Ronald Reagan (her father was his 1^st cousin).  However, after all her accomplishments, her biggest one was being a mother, and showing love to her children, making them the good people they are today.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Melissa K. Czop, son, Christopher M. Czop, daughter-in-law, Anne Mie (Rillaerts) Czop, brother, Dean Smith, and Grandson, Danylo A. Czop.  She is predeceased by her brother Dale Smith.

Services will be held at Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 10:30 am at the R. Strunk Funeral Home 400 Main Street Phoenixville, PA.  The Rev. Jeremiah Mustered will officiate and burial will be held at St. Paul Episcopal Church, 126 Black Rock Road, Oaks, PA  19456. 

Visitation will be held Saturday morning in the funeral home from 9:30-10:30am. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made in her memory to the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (Maintenance Care) 126 Black Rock Rd. Oaks PA 19456.
