Lloyd "Dink" M. Bishop, Phoenixville
Lloyd Bishop, passed away Thursday May 21, 2020 in the Bryn Mawr Extended Care .
He was born April 25, 1940, in Pottstown PA. The oldest of four children, Dink graduated from Westmoreland High School in Dallas, PA. He and his brother John immediately joined the Navy where they served together on the USS Kittyhawk. After his time in the Navy, he went into the Auto service industry. He was at one time a crew member for "Dyno" Don Nicholson. Dink was also a promoter for the 422 Allstars Nostalgia Drag Racing Series and a fabricator for the 422 Motorsports Shop in Oaks, Pa. He was instrumental in starting the Ford Motorsports Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway in 1985. Dink was inducted into the Drag Race Hall of Fame in 2011. He was also a model train enthusiast.
Dink leaves behind two sons: Sean Bishop and Michael McGrath. Two sisters: Barbara (Bishop) Boyer and Linda (Bishop) Dobrischkin and three grandchildren. Lloyd is preceded in death by his brother John (Jack) Bishop.
A private ceremony will be held at the Philadelphia Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
