Benjamin J. Smoyer, Jr., age 70, husband of Charlotte (Bodnar) Smoyer of Pottstown formerly of Linfield, PA died on Tuesday morning in the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia. He was born in Pottstown a son to the late Benjamin Sr. and the late Hazel (Rohrbach) Smoyer. Benjamin resided most of his life in Linfield, he was employed as a Lineman for 38 years for the Borough of Lansdale until his retirement in 2010. He served as a veteran of the United States Army. Benjamin was an active member of Linfield United Church of Christ. He was an avid racing fan specifically NASCAR and Drag Racing enjoying watching as well as racing at Maple Grove Raceway. Benjamin had a passion for model air planes and collecting trains and building model cars. In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters: Gloria Stahl of Spring City and Deborah wife of Jason Cornelison of Royersford. And two grandchildren: Kelsey Bollinger and Jordan Stahl. Two sisters: Joan Costa of Gilbertsville and Nancy Swaverly of Royersford. And 6 nieces and 2 nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Saturday at 10:00am at the Linfield United Church of Christ 25 Reformed Road Linfield PA 19468. The Rev. Ruth Chartier will officiate. Burial to follow in the Highland memorial Park, Pottstown. His viewing will be held on Friday evening in church from 6-8pm and on Saturday morning in church from 9-9:45am.
