Obituary of Janet E Hedrick

Janet E. Hedrick, 89, of Schwenksville died on Friday, April 15, 2011. She was the wife of Hiram Lee Hedrick to whom she was married for 64 years.
Born in Skippback she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Ester (Mc Cleese) Otto.
She attended Creamery Elementary School, and was a 1940 graduate of Schwenksville High School. In 1944, she graduated from The Pennsylvania State Univeristy with a degree in teaching. While working and raising a family, she attained her Masters degree.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters Gail Pelz of Fountain Hills, AZ, and Ellen Hedrick of Costa Rica; and sons David Hedrick and Jon Hedrick of Schwenksville. Grandchildren Jonathan Hedrick of South Orange, NJ, Christopher Hedrick of Pottstown, Elizabeth Bratt of Huntington IN, Abigail Bramm of Pottstown, Daniel Hedrick of Pottstown, Steven Hedrick of Schwenksville, and Russell Hedrick of Schwenksville. Great Grandchildren Heidi Bramm, Lily-Anne Bramm, Elijah Bratt and Abigail Bratt.
She started her work career as a Bell Telephone operator in California and later taught Home Economics in the Trappe/Collegeville Schools and Phoenixville School District, retiring in 1980 to begin a new career as Grandma!
As a girl she won numerous awards at 4H competitions for her sewing. Later she won prizes at the Kimberton Fair for sewing and painting.
She enjoyed many vacations fishing at the family cabin in Canada. She was devoted to her family and friends She was an excellent homemaking with many talents. Her cooking skills were greatly appreciated by everyone in the family, especially her famous potato salad.
A talented artist who liked to paint landscapes and colorful flowers in acrylic and water color; she took art lessons at the senior center in Phoenixville.
In her later years, she knit many items to keep busy, and donated her hand made items to local charities.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service at 11:00 am Friday April 22, 2011 at St. James Lutheran Church 93Kugler Road Limerick
