Obituary of Charles D. Deckman

Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Charles D. Deckman, Sr., 85, husband of Jean E. (Singer) Deckman died Sunday, March 12, 2017 at The Gardens at Pottstown.  He was the son of the late James and Catharine Deckman.

Charles was a graduate of Bartram High School.  Charles grew up in Philadelphia and spent most of his adult years living in the East Vincent area.  His first job was at Sid Harvey Supply but then ventured out on his own, becoming the owner of Deckman Electric where he retired in 1999 after 43 years.

Charles loved the outdoors, including hunting, boating and fishing. He enjoyed his commitment to the Boy Scouts and it would not be unusual to find him traveling to their mountain home.

In addition to his loving wife of 64 years, he is survived by five children:  Linda Jean Mentzer (husband, Douglas) of Spring City, Charles Deckman (wife, Deborah) of Glenmoore, Paul Deckman of Sabinsville, Mark Deckman of Phoenixville and Audrey Rawus (husband, Jim) of Pottstown; two brothers:  James of Palm Coast and Robert of Aston.  Also, 4 grandchildren:  Shawn Mentzer (wife, Jill), Brian Mentzer, deceased, Matthew Deckman (wife Christine) and Kyle Deckman and 4 great grandchildren:  Taylor and Mackenzie Mentzer and Charles and Elizabeth Deckman, who he loved dearly.

In addition to his parents, the late James and Catharine Smith, his two sisters Joann and Carol preceded him in death and a brother, George.

A memorial service will be determined at a later date.
